It’s been a very Uncharted-centric day, hasn’t it? Well, this time we have something that I’m sure Uncharted fans will enjoy. It’s a handy-dandy guide on Uncharted 3′s upcoming multiplayer beta! It’s going to be available tomorrow or the following day depending on where you are and if you’re a PlayStation Plus member or if you bought inFamous 2.

First off, the official dates on when the  beta will be available and its end date. As I’ve said, it’s going to be tomorrow, Tuesday, June 28 for all inFamous 2 and current PlayStation Plus members. Although with Sony’s “Welcome Back” program automatically giving out a free one month trial for those affected, chances are almost everyone’s a PSN+ member for now.

However, if you’re one of the few people who’s not a PSN+ member and you haven’t bought inFamous 2, you’ll be able to participate in Uncharted 3′s open beta starting on Monday, July 4.

The beta should be available to everyone regardless of region. Well, except for those who’s PSN Store still isn’t working of course. So if you’re based in Japan, you’re so out of luck.

One last thing before we dive into the gameplay modes, the beta will end on July 13. So, for those who won’t be able to join until July 4, make sure you make the most out of your nine day playtime.

Gameplay Modes and Maps

June 28 – July 4: Gametypes available: Team Deathmatch, Plunder, Three Team Deathmatch, Co-op Arena

Maps available: Airstrip, Chateau

July 4 – July 8: Gametypes available: Team Deathmatch, Free for All, Team Objective, Co-op Hunter

Maps available: Airstrip, Chateau

July 9 – July 13: Gametypes available: Team Deathmatch, Three Team Deathmatch, Co-op Adventure

Maps available: Airstrip, Yemen

To view the game modes and maps in action, I suggest heading over to the official Uncharted site.

If you’re curious if the beta will support Stereoscopic 3D, I have good news for you! It will! The game will also allow for split-screen play, but that can’t be used in conjunction with the 3D effect.

The level cap in the beta is 25, and it looks like Naughty Dog has some stuff planned for stat-tracking over on its official site. It’s not working right now, but they are hinting that something will be available.

If you’re wondering if your level and things you’ve unlocked in the beta will carry over to the final retail game, the answer is no. However, Naughty Dog has some cool rewards for those that do play well in the beta that will carry over to the final game and these are:

  • Download the Uncharted 3 Beta and receive the exclusive UNCHARTED 3 PSN Beta Tester Avatar!
  • Complete 10 matches in every Gametype of Competitive Multiplayer and receive the Exclusive Beta Decal Pack 1!
  • Complete 5 matches in every Gametype of Co-operative Multiplayer and receive the Exclusive Beta Decal Pack 2!
  • Complete 4 Treasure Sets and receive the Treasure Hunter’s Starter Pack!
  • Rank up to level 25 in the Beta and receive a handsome reward of in-game cash on day one!

For the full list of Power Plays, Boosters, etc. Be sure to give this list a look see.

Last but not least, you can report any bugs, cheaters, hacks or whatever over on Uncharted’s official multiplayer beta forum. Yes, folks. This is still a beta. So don’t get pissed off when you encounter bugs, or if a few things aren’t up to Uncharted’s usual brilliance. This is what the purpose of a beta is after all.

Phew! That’s quite a mouthful! So, anyone here planning on getting some treasure hunting with a side of pwnage done this week? I know I will! See you on Uncharted 3′s multiplayer!
