Microsoft, Calling on Developers for Free to Play Games on Xbox 360By Alex Co | June 25, 2011 | News | No comments | Share
It seems Microsoft is planning on cashing in on the whole free-to-play games (F2P) that are cropping up.
If sources from website Develop are to be believed, their report claims that “Several sources connected to the matter say Microsoft is, behind the scenes, calling on developers to discuss possible free-to-play game deals. This will be games that can either be monetised by in-game items or premium upgrade costs.”
The site has approached Microsoft but the corporation has yet to offer a statement as of press time.
It has been speculated that Microsoft will be using its Xbox LIVE Points as the basis for in-game transactions.
Keep in mind this is still a rumor until confirmed by Microsoft, but one that sounds very likely.
Can free-to-play games work on consoles? We might find out sooner than we think.
