EA has just released part three of their behind the scene series regarding the Back to Karkand bonus maps for pre-ordering Battlefield 3.

We have two concept art renders that are reimagined with the power of the Frostbite 2 game engine. Wake Island and Strike at Karkand has been covered before, which leaves us with Sharqi Peninsula and Gulf of Oman.

The concept renders are just that, concept art. The Battlefield Blog itself states, “ Don’t read too much into them, though, as concept art will never be proof of features, content, or even final visual design.”

Regardless if they’re concept renders or not, you have to admit, they sure look pretty.

The Battlefield Blog also clarifies a few things regarding the Limited Edition of Battlefield 3.

There’s absolutely no way you can pre-order Battlefield 3 and not end up with the Limited Edition (with the exception of Italy, where the cut-off date for the Limited Edition is September 30th)

It’s also stated there that the Limited Edition will entitles you to the expansion pack Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand once it’s released. If you pre-order, the bonus content will be yours at no extra charge.

For those who didn’t pre-order, you can still buy it after the game’s launch (price to be confirmed).

Perhaps the most interesting thing that’s posted in the blog is this:

“The goal from the separate development team behind it is to make it every bit as ambitious and full of content as Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam. Closer to the launch of the base game, we will be able to show you just what that means.”

Not a bad analogy to make. Bad Company 2’s Vietnam expansion was very well received and added four diverse maps, era specific weapons and vehicls, their own set of Achievements/Trophies and most important of all, a different pace in contrast to Bad Company 2.

Will you be pre-ordering Battlefield 3? If you’re a Battlefield fan, chances are you already did! If so, congratulations in securing your Back to Karkand expansion pack.
