DiRT 3 was lauched yesterday but gamers on the PlayStation 3 were quite disappointed when they found out they couldn’t play online.

The reason why they can’t play is cause DiRT 3 uses a new technique involving a pass, which is needed to play online. These so-called “VIP” passes need to be redeemed to play online. You get one for free with the game but if you decide to buy it second-hand, you’ll have to buy a pass from the PlayStation Store for 10$ or Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 MS points, which is also experiencing problems at the moment. Though the pass is redeemable on the Xbox.

It is a really unfortunate situation but we are positive that everything is being done to rectify the service as soon as possible.Andy Gray – Communications Manager at Codemasters

DiRT 3 has a lot of postive reviews, ironicly enough the multiplayer is believed to be the best part cause of it’s refreshing nature.
