I think it’s safe to say that Take Two and Rockstar’s gamble with L.A. Noire has paid off. The game has an average of 90 on review aggregator Metacritic, and we now have news that the game is the U.K.’s fastest-selling new videogame IP ever according to retail tracker GfK Char-Track.

No official numbers were released, although the firm has said that the first week sales were on par with Red Dead Redemption’s launch – also another one of Rockstar’s games.

L.A. Noire has been the best-selling U.K. game for all platforms, Xbox 360 and PS3 during the week which ended on May 21. The platform division lists it as 58 percent on the 360, with the remaining sales on the PS3.

The game is now both a critical and commercial success. Congrats to developer Team Bondi for the superb job.
