Hide Yo’ Wallets: The Steam Sale is Here

Today brought with it excellent news for gamers everywhere, but very bad news for abused wallets. The annual Steam Holiday Sale has gone live, offering virtually everything on the storefront for low prices. But this time around, Valve’s integrated a metagame which asks players to amass either lumps of coal or Steam gifts by completing daily objectives. At the end of the sale, each lump of coal will be counted as an entry in Steam’s Epic Holiday Giveaway, with a Grand Prize of every single game on the service.
As usual, the sale will feature a new set of daily deals each morning for a couple of weeks, in addition to the “normal” markdowns storewide. Highlights from day 1 include Portal 2 for a mere $7.50 and Just Cause 2 for only $4.99. Entire publishers’ catalogs will also be on offer for cheap throughout the event, from 2K Games to Rockstar to Steam owner Valve. Head on over to Steam’s storefront and peruse its wares to see whether something tickles your holiday fancy, and be sure to keep tabs on the daily deals every morning through January 2 if you’re on the prowl for some PC gaming bargains.
