GamePro Is Kicking the BucketBy Kyle Mann | December 1, 2011 | News | No comments | Share
Long-running games publication and website GamePro is no more, the company announced after over 20 years of bringing you the dirt on the gaming industry. In justa few days, the URL will redirect to sister site PC World, which will archive the dead site’s content and take up the role of covering content GamePro would usually handle.
One more physical issue will be pushed out to subscribers, after which it’ll be shut down for good. Since the magazine industry has been eclipsed in recent years by the growing number of online gaming news sources (such as ourselves), there will remain only a handful of hard copy mags after GamePro closes its doors. As the mag began its decline, we saw numerous redesign attempts as property holder IDG desperately tried to retain readership. It’s a sad day for those of us who grew up reading the publication in the ’90s, and we wish the laid-off writers and employees the best.
