Battlefield 3 to Grace Steam After All?

Well this is heartening news to any gamers whose hearts are forever intertwined with the magical Steam platform: an anonymous source inside Valve has leaked info indicating Battlefield 3 will arrive on Steam, and just in time too. According to the mystery tipster, Valve and EA have been in talks to come to some sort of an agreement regarding the sale of DLC, which is apparently the crux of the issue.
If these whispers should prove true, one fine October day you’ll boot up Steam to see a nice, snazzy Battlefield 3 splash page gracing your monitor. Of course, based on the Battlelog and Origin integration in the beta version of the game, it is probable that even the Steam version will still require the browser launcher and EA’s new download service to play. Does this matter to anyone at all? While I think it’s a good idea for EA to get one of its most popular franchises on the PC’s most popular storefront, I can’t imagine Battlefield fans skipping out on the game just because there wasn’t a Steam version. All the same, it’d be nice if these rumors panned out and we can put the drama behind us.
I am a Batllefield fan but I am not buying Battlefield 3 on the basis that it is not on Steam. There is no way that I will use an entirely new service just to play one game. My experience with EA's Origin has been a thoroughly frustrating one. Valve have stuck by PC gaming for years now, they supported us when everyone (High street stores, publishers, review websites and so called "community managers" were against us. Valve always aim to give us the best possible products and service, and for that I am loyal to Valve.
@F0dd3r - Honestly, it's a decent-sized hurdle for me too. I'm not all morally opposed to Origin, but I like Steam. I've bought off other services to be sure, but Origin just has that obtrusive feel to it. Then again, I wasn't going to buy BF3 at launch anyway, waiting for the patches and a price drop.
Good,I hope you never get to play BF3.One less single minded cretin for us to frag/team kill.Good for you,my man.
@ExildMan - Que? I am single minded because I refuse to satisfy EA's greed? Oh please. I think the only "single minded cretin" here is you. As you seem incapable of accepting no other opinion than your own. Now run along ExildChild
Origin integration with EA games is limited so far. If Origin works with BF3 like it does with all other Origin games up until this point I am going to do this: Drop keycode in Origin. Download + install Battlefield 3 with Origin. Close Origin. Place Battlefield 3 .exe in Steam as a non-Steam game. Voila.
With some luck I will have the Steam overlay with Battlefield 3. < Works with Dragon Age Origins, Dragon AGe II and other games. ....And it THAT doesn't work, I could add Oirigin as a whole to my Steam library as a non-Steam game :')
I will not buy Battlefield 3 unless it is on steam
