Modern Warfare 3 Has LAN Support

In addition to Modern Warfare 3‘s confirmed dedicated server support, Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling has confirmed the upcoming game will feature LAN play. The announcement is certainly welcome news to us PC gamers who may want to play networked without an internet connection from time to time, or who just like the superior latency when playing in the same house. Additionally, the LAN mode sports a detailed “class restriction control” option that allows restriction of elements like weapons, secondaries, equipment, perks, and deathstreaks for LAN hosts.
That wasn’t all Bowling had to say: in his informal Twitter Q&A session, the creative strategist confirmed the game will see the return of Theater Mode. The new version of Black Ops‘ movie recording system will be integrated with the paid Call of Duty Elite service, allowing gamers to upload their recordings to their profiles. Finally, we learned that Zombie Mode is definitely out this time around. In its place is the (quite good) co-op Spec Ops Survival Mode, which I got to go hands-on with this past week.
What do you think? Will LAN support be a deciding factor in whether you purchase MW3, or is it a non-issue in our hyper-connected world? Let us know in the comments below.
