Rumor: Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer DetailsBy Alex Co | August 30, 2011 | News | 9 comments | Share
Activision’s Call of Duty XP event, which will take place this coming weekend will be the official unveiling of Modern Warfare 3′s multiplayer, but that hasn’t stopped someone from sneaking in and allegedly leaking a few tidbits ahead of the reveal date.
In a report by SFX-360, they state that a Youtube clip obtained by someone who “broke” into the event contained a new game mode, multiplayer maps and something very interesting – a 32 player count in a single game mode.
The video (which has since been pulled by Activision, giving more traction to this “rumor”) reveals that the game will have 13 multiplayer maps. It’s not known if this will be the final list or if this list will be available right out of the box day-and-date of release.
The video also revealed two game modes in Modern Warfare 3. The standard Team Deathmatch mode and something called “Bomb” mode. Unfortunately, that’s all we know regarding this new mode for the Call of Duty series. If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say it’s something close to the Counter-Strike formula of Plant/Diffuse?
By far the most interesting thing the video has shown is that some game types will support 32 players! In past Call of Duties, the maximum number of players allowed in a map was 18.
Here’s the screen grab to make you all excited.
Keep in mind that these are all rumors until verified by Activision, Infinity Ward or Sledgehammer Games…but with Activision pulling the vid itself, it looks like this might be the real deal.
Call of Duty XP will take place on September 2nd and 3rd. DeltaGamer will surely update you on the latest news regarding Modern Warfare 3′s multiplayer as it develops.
