Joe Danger: The Movie AnnouncedBy Nick Simberg | August 12, 2011 | News | No comments | Share
Joe Danger mixed equal parts Trials HD, Excitebike, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater into what is without a doubt one of the most fun PSN exclusives since the platform launched. Fans of the original are in for a treat, because just this morning, developer Hello Games has announced the sequel. Well, it’s kind of a sequel. It still has Joe Danger in it, at least.
Joe Danger: The Movie looks set to greatly broaden the horizons set by the original. Instead of being simply a motorcycle stuntman, Joe seems to have extended his skillset to include jetpacks, skiing, tank driving, minecart racing, and… giant robot controlling? That’s what the movie poster teaser image seems to reveal, at least. The fine print on the poster also notes that “time travel and dinosaurs” will be included.
Hello Games’ Sean Murray talked to Game Informer about the upcoming title:
It’s kind of a sequel to Joe Danger, but it’s also something entirely new. I guess I would say that the entire gameplay experience of Joe Danger on PSN, would be just one short scene in this new game. The awesome thing is that when you play the game, you’re making a film. It’s the most ridiculous action movie ever made, but you are creating it, scene by scene. If you nail every scene, then the film will be perfect, and if you’re terrible, then it’ll probably be hilarious.
Can’t turn out worse than The Movies, eh?
Murray went on to explain that a PlayStation Network exclusive is not guaranteed this time, and they’re currently scouting out other distribution platforms for the title. I will be quite surprised if it doesn’t appear at least on PSN, although Microsoft is pretty good at getting studios to sign on for things like their Summer of Arcade promotion… We’ll see. If I might suggest something, Hello Games? Steam. It did wonders for Super Meat Boy.
Joe Danger: The Movie will be first shown off at gamescom next week, so expect more news/screenshots/other goodness then.
Did anyone else play/love the original Joe Danger, or was it just me?
